Wastewatchers – August 2009
Waste Watchers holiday club was a fantastic week enjoyed by both the kids and the leaders. The program was fast-paced and fun and Louise and Liz got up to much mayhem including chasing rats and each other! With the help of some friendly footballers, Parky and his park was turned from a rubbish tip to a glorious garden, and Fitz helped teach the younglings about the wonders of God’s creation and the amazing miracle He did through Jesus.
All this was of course spaced out between many fun (and messy) games, relaxing in the chill out room and the creation of a whole range of different things including, cakes and pizzas, clay lighthouses, wooden bird houses and many wonderous works of art!
The rain was also held at bay and the kids and leaders ventured outside to participate in a wide variety of sports, some rather wet games and some rather welcome refreshments!
On the final afternoon the kids were delighted to be taking part in a special It’s A Knock Out competition with 16 teams moving around a whole assortment of games and challenges including climbing up a slippery slide, balancing on a barrel, transporting water on the end of very long sticks and getting a tonne of bricks from one high tower to the other by way of a pulley system.
