My timeMy Time

At the beginning of this year Splash secured funding from “Awards for All” to set up and establish a one year programme support groups for parents of pre-school children in the Storrington and Sullington area.

This unique parent support group is called “My Time” and runs at Forge House Community Hub in Storrington on Mondays term time from 9:45 – 11:30am. It’s a group for parents who want to make some time for themselves and is designed by those who attend – they choose what to do whether it’s as simple as having coffee and swapping parenting ideas or trying out new recipes and making things. My Time is a great network for help and advice as well as practical skills development to improve parenting and family life, particularly for parents and carers who are not yet linked into the school support networks.

To book a place in the creche, please call 01903 740889 or drop in to Forge House.  For all other information regarding “My Time” please contact Karlene at the Splash! office: 01903 740044 0r karlene@splashschools.org.uk

Community Music Workshops for under 5s

Humming Birds music workshops include a mixture of singing, playing instruments, signing and interactive games – all designed to be fun and stimulate natural musical ability.  The pace of the groups and the activities planned will be appropriate for children with additional support needs.

Workshops run on Mondays at the Pulborough Children’s & Family Centre and Fridays at Trinity Methodist Church in Storrington.  As well as “open” sessions appropriate for all children, there are “targeted” sessions available with a smaller group to provide a supportive environment for children with special needs and extra time for individual attention.  There is an experienced music therapist available to support parents in using music to foster their children’s development, particularly for children with Downs Syndrome, communication difficulties or on the autistic spectrum.  If you are interested in a targeted group please speak to the Children’s and Family Centre or call Caroline at Splash (01903 740044)

youthmusicThe Humming Bird Workshops have been funded for a 12 month period by Youth Music the UK’s largest children’s music charity (www.youthmusic.org.uk).

Youth Music is funded by the National Lottery to promote and support music making opportunities for children with the least access, including some of the UK’s most disadvantaged young people.
