The charity is overseen by a group of trustees who have had a close relationship with the values of Splash over years. They are rooted in their communities and bring support and local insight to the promotion of Splash’s aims. Our trustees have a professional background in education, business or church life.
John Riddell is part of the leadership team of Petworth Community Church. In a family partnership John farms 600 acres of land and is very involved with local businesses and the local community in Petworth. John writes “I have a passion to see God’s purposes worked out with regard to our connection with the land. I have always been committed to encourage partnerships which to involve and empower individuals to foster fresh initiatives. I love to see church become more relevant in order to bring spiritual life to rural communities across the South Downs area. John is involved in a number of Sussex wide forums and other local charities and is a trustee of Family Foundations Trust (Dalesdown).
Liz Burt (Founder) writes: I grew up on a farm just outside Arundel and, with my family, was actively involved in Wickbourne Chapel in Littlehampton (now The Wick Centre). My husband Mark and I spent 2 years as students at All Nations Christian College and then served as missionaries in Niger for 6 years. I started Splash in 1999 as opportunities opened up to take assemblies in local schools. From these early days of ‘Splash’ it has been wonderful to see how the work has grown as others have given their time and enthusiasm to help with all the school and community activities. I now work as a Youth Projects Manager with Horsham Matters Ltd (another local faith based charity) and am still passionate about supporting local young people and encouraging them to explore the amazing Christian message for themselves.
Alyson Heath is the Head Teacher at St Mary’s Church Aided Primary school in Pulborough. She attends St Mary’s church in Pulborough where she is a member of the Parochial Church Council. Alyson brings a unique perspective to our Trustee Board with her hands-on experience of the challenges facing teachers and staff as they aim to bring out the best in every single pupil within the school environment. It is greatly encouraging to have her as part of the trustee board bringing practical expertise and wisdom as we look to set our long term goals and directions in line with what schools need.
