Church Farm Ashington
When you get here we will give each family a “Story Walk Kit Bag” with directions on how to use it. You can choose your own pace to visit various story stations around the farm. Throughout the walk you’ll have the chance to rediscover Bible stories with your children, you’ll get to look for clues and even hunt for buried treasure!
We will all get together a couple of times during the morning, hot chocolate (with marshmallows!) and cakes have been mentioned and there might well be surprising appearances from people who are mentioned in Jesus’ stories!
This event has been especially designed with families in mind, so all children and young people need to be accompanied by a responsible adult. As we are on a large outdoor site, adults need to stay with their children at all times and be responsible for their safety and well-being.
Things we have heard and known,
things that our ancestors told us.
We will not keep them from our children;
we will tell the next generation
about the LORD’s power and his great deeds
and the wonderful things he has done.
Psalm 78:3-5 Good News Translation (GNT)
MAKING A SPLASH IN SCHOOLS FOR OVER A DECADE!
Local schools love our creative and lively assemblies. Head Teachers have commented that:
“I have seen a couple of your assemblies now and you always engage the children so very well. Thank you.”
“I last saw a Splash assembly when I was doing my teaching practice at Steyning Primary in 2008. Great to see you’re still going strong, even better than I remembered!”
- “It was great to see the children joining in enthusiastically and listening so carefully. The presentation was stunning and the message in that presentation so valuable.”
- “When I look in the diary and see that it’s a Splash assembly day, I know our pupils will be in for a treat – but it’s a treat that comes with a clear message which will be relevant for them.”
- “The assembly (Giving the Gift of Love) was creative and thought provoking, with something in it for all our age groups.”
“Thank you for all you bring to the children of our school – you are so creative with your ideas for assemblies.”
“There is terrific interaction with pupils and you are very sensitive to the school’s aims”
“The children regularly report that these are among their favourite assemblies”
“You continually bring fresh and thoughtful acts of worship , leaving the children with a “now what shall I do about what I’ve just heard?” thought.”
The name “Splash” was originally chosen when we were registered as a Charity because our aim is to bring a “splash” of fun and excitement on every visit to every school! In each assembly we try to create space in which pupils can reflect on spiritual and moral issues as part of their journey to explore their personal beliefs. Schools do tell us that, as we encourage active listening, participation and response, we reinforce shared values and attitudes which contribute positively to the development of community spirit. As we teach children about the Christian faith, we boost their self-confidence, self-esteem and social skills and help them to develop into good citizens.
We do not charge for assembly visits. However, as a charity, we appreciate contributions towards our travel costs and the cost of staff time.
Splash’s Holiday Clubs are bursting with games and activities, Bible stories, dramas and songs, team and leader challenges. We have a large team of volunteers from different local churches who work with the children during the week, and we can generally accommodate children needing additional support.
Read below some of the comments from parents of children who have previously attended Splash Holiday clubs:
“I was really impressed when I found out there was more to this club than I realised! A great job, well done everyone.”
“A very busy, fun time.” “Brilliant week!”
“My daughter loved the holiday club. She had tummy ache on the way to the club because she was so nervous about joining new groups of children….when she came home, although tired, she without a doubt said she had a great time. In addition, she seemed to be a more positive, animated person”
“After attending the Knock Out on Friday I was extremely impressed with the enthusiasm shown by all the staff, especially the teenage volunteers.”
“I am always impressed with Splash holiday club. I feel I can leave my children in a secure and loving environment. For the children it’s like one long party but they come away calm and happy.”
“He really enjoyed being on the team and can’t wait to be part of the next holiday club.”
